TAB HAUNTS / VERSION 0.2.0
Privacy notice
Tab Haunts is a browser character collection. The extension stores its progress on your device and does not send that progress to a server.
Information stored by the extension
The extension uses Chrome’s local extension storage for collected ghost IDs and discovery timestamps, selected display slots and backdrop, whether encounters are enabled, daily find counts, cooldown timing, and a pending encounter. A pending encounter may include the numeric ID of the browser tab showing it. These values stay in the current Chrome profile and are not synced by Tab Haunts.
Website access
Content scripts run on ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages to draw ghost encounters and check whether the page is active, visible, or fullscreen. This version does not read page text, log website URLs or browsing history, or transmit browsing information. The only declared extension permission is storage; the manifest also declares website content scripts. Chrome may therefore display a broad website-access warning.
Data sharing and external services
The extension has no accounts, analytics, advertising, payment collection, AI calls, or remote resources. It makes no external data requests. It does not sell or share collection data. Tab Haunts does not automatically publish anything to a social network.
Share cards
“Save share card” creates a PNG on your device containing your chosen ghost display. You decide whether to share that image elsewhere. A share card does not contain your browsing history and cannot restore your collection.
Your controls and deletion
You can pause encounters in the extension. Chrome also provides website-access controls on its extension details page. Uninstalling Tab Haunts removes its local extension storage. Saved PNG files remain in the folder where you downloaded them until you delete them. Removing the extension or changing browser profiles can permanently remove your progress because there is no cloud backup.
This website
This notice’s local-only collection statements describe the extension. This website is hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes website requests as the hosting provider; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Loading a website necessarily sends request information to its hosting provider, which may process standard connection metadata such as IP address and browser headers. We have not added advertising, tracking pixels, analytics scripts, forms, or account cookies to these pages.
Beta support and updates
Installation help and collection rules are available in the help & FAQ. This beta does not yet have a Chrome Web Store listing. Publisher identity and a direct support contact will be added before a store submission. Check this page when installing an updated version; a release that changes data handling needs an updated notice.
